Overview

Prof. He Huang, male, birth in Linyi, Shandong, China.

I am Professor at the School of Optoelectronic Science and Engineering, Soochow University (since March 2021), where I lead the Laboratory of Low-Dimensional Optoelectronic Materials and Devices. Before that I was a Marie Curie Fellow at LMU Munich, and before that a PhD student with Prof. A. L. Rogach at City University of Hong Kong.

I have published 54 peer-reviewed research articles, 35 articles as the first or corresponding author. The papers have been cited 7,600 times, according to Google Scholar with an h-index of 30. Six of them have been rated as highly cited in Web of Science. Research articles of the firstor corresponding author have been published in high impact factor journals such as Nature Communications, 4 Angewandte Chemie International Edition, Advanced Science, ACS Energy Letters, Chem Mater, NPG Asia Materials and so on with three papers cited over 300 times. For example, I first reported quantum size effect of hybrid perovskite and also reported first waterproof treatment of perovskite nanocrystals, which were cited 388 and 332 times, respectively.

I started my research career in 2011. Since then, I have acquired knowledge on various aspects of science and management for the past nine years. During the Master training, I acquired several synthetic methods such as wet chemistry, hydrothermal, CVD etc. I also learned the operation of equipment such as TEM, SEM, AFM, XRD, Raman, FTIR etc. I have experience with device fabrications of solar cells, supercapacitors and Li-ion batteries. During my PhD training, I joined Prof. A. L. Rogach's group, one of the world-leading groups in semiconductor NCs(City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong) where I acquired experience in the synthesis, optical properties and applications of perovskites. For instance, I have developed two new synthetic methods to obtain perovskite NCs and to develop a coating process to achieve water stable perovskites. I have vast experience in collaborating with other group members and researchers in other groups. Later I joined Prof. Jochen Feldmann's chair (LMU Munich, Germany), one of the world-leading groups in understanding the optical properties of semiconductor NCs. I further developed my skill for the synthesis of material and learned a fundamental understanding of NCs by time-resolved spectroscopy. I am also getting training on my independence such as publishing as only corresponding author paper.

Research

Current research at Soochow University

1) Devices and applications based on perovskite and other new nanomaterials — with emphasis on exploring applications in light-emitting diodes, solar cells and catalysis.

As a hub of the optoelectronic industry, Suzhou has many related companies. Our group takes new perovskite materials as the starting point and explores the optical properties of these new materials.

2) Optical monitoring and mechanistic study of nanomaterials:

Through different optical monitoring methods that we build ourselves, we study the growth process and reaction mechanisms of perovskites. We plan to use the knowledge gained to develop new optoelectronic materials.

3) Application and optimisation of mesoporous materials:

We develop mesoporous materials suitable for coating perovskites so as to enhance their stability, and use mesoporous materials to optimise perovskites.
