Research Interests

By using Ultrahigh Vacuum-Scanning Tunneling/non-contact Atomic Force Microscopy (UHV-STM/nc-AFM) and other surface sensitive techniques (e.g. XPS, LEED and etc.), we study the self-assembly, the on-surface synthesis of low dimensional organic nanoarchitectures resolved at the single-atom level, including the following aspects:

1) Designing multicomponent (metal coordination) supramolecular architectures on solid surfaces;

2) On-surface synthesis and characterization of conjugated organic nanostructures;

3) On-surface template synthesis via non-covalent interactions (e.g. metal-organic coordination bonds) towards novel conjugated organic nanostructures;

4) Assembling on-surface molecular motors and revealing their mechanisms.
