Lin Sun is an associate professor at Soochow University in China. His researches concentrate on the optical fiber transmissions over novel fibers including coupled-core multicore fibers (CC-MCF) and hollow-core fibers (HCFs). In the field of CC-MCFs transmissions, he collaborated with Hengtong Marine Corp., which is top 100 Chinese company, to accomplish including the in-lab over 2000-km transmission demonstrations [1-3] and 100-km field-trial MCFs-based submarine cable. He for the first time observed the PMD evolution of MCFs cabling, and numerically analyzed the impact on submarine communications [4], which would be beneficial to the submarine communication industry. In the field of HCFs transmissions, he began to demonstrate the high-speed modulation and transmission over NANF in 2016 [5-6]. Recently, he collaborated with YOFC, which is the top fiber manufacture company in the world, to realize over 1200-km DNANF transmission experiment, with using the ultra-loss fiber at 0.14 dB/km. His novel idea of coded-modulation by using frequency resolving subcarriers could mitigate the DNANF mode distortions. A lot of novel ideas and demonstrations are in coming…
