Overview

Dr. Weiqi He finished his doctoral thesis in Dr. Minsheng Zhu's lab at Model Animal Research Center, Nanjing University. During this time, he studied the MLCK/MLCP pathway and its role in intestinal smooth muscle contraction.  He moved to The University of Chicago to pursue his postdoctoral training in Dr. Jerry Turner's lab. There, he became interested in studying the role of MLCK in tight junction regulation and inflammatory bowel diseases. In 2015, Dr. He was appointed as professor in Cambridge-Suda (CAM-SU) Genomic Resource Center at Soochow University. His future research goals will be to study the role of inflammatory cytokines and circadian clock in gut epithelial homeostasis. He uses genetic modified mice model and ex vivo enteroid culture systems to achieve these goals.
